General Information |

Weekly private lessons are offered in 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions, depending on the student’s age/level and are located either at the teachers’ studio or at the students’ home within Arklow town.


At the Studio |

Students are expected to arrive for lessons in a timely manner, with all required materials and music.  

Parents may quietly sit in the music room while the lesson occurs, wait in their vehicle on the Main street, or run errands so long as they return to pick up their student at the end of the lesson. 

Students will be collected at the front door by the teacher, supervised for the duration of the lesson and brought back to the front door.  Students will not be supervised after their allocated time slots. 


Online Lessons |

Online lessons must be paid in advance but can be purchased in smaller groups of 2- 4 lessons. This allows students to try online lessons for a spell before committing.

The student is to be on the bench at the Piano with all the materials needed exactly at lesson time – Note book/ Copy book, Sheet music, tutor book, teacher and student need to have the same music for the lesson.

Please have siblings and pets in another room of the house for the duration of the lesson if possible. 

TVs, phones, tablets and computers are to be turned off/on silent in the lesson

Please have piano and student in a well lit, quiet area of the house for dedicated practice and lessons if at all possible. If not, an area that can be made quiet and well lit for a small timeframe daily for practice and weekly lessons.


Practice and Instrument  |

Private students are expected to practice daily on a well-maintained acoustic piano. This may not be feasible and please ask the teachers advice on the best alternative. 

For students receiving lessons at home they need to have access to an acoustic piano or high quality digital, stage or hybrid with weighted keys.


Materials |

Students needs a notebook/ copy book at their first lesson, which will be used keep track of assigned pieces and practice suggestions/goals for each week.  The teacher will advise on tutor books or exam books to purchase for each term where necessary.


Calendar and Schedule |

The tuition rates are determined based on a calendar of 43 weekly private lessons Starting in September and ending in July.  


Examinations |

Students are welcome to participate in examinations from ABRSM and RIAM and/or performance/ competitions evaluations.  These opportunities require additional entry fees.  Please contact the instructor for more information. 


Parent Participation |

Parents are encouraged to be supportive and active participants in practice at home.  


Makeup Lessons |

Due to the teacher's limited availability, makeup lessons cannot be guaranteed if a student cancels.  However, when absence arises due to unforeseen situations such as; accident or family emergency, and, if the student wants a makeup lesson, the teacher will make an effort to accommodate.  Please be courteous to the teacher and fellow students by notifying the teacher at least 24 hours in advance regarding any known upcoming absences.


Tuition and Payment |

Fees are non-refundable for the terms, full year or lesson for any reason whatsoever to do with a student missing a class, make up lessons will be provided if the teacher misses a lesson.

Students have the option of paying tuition in one of the three following methods.

 The tuition rates are shown in the table below.  

  1. In 4 instalments one each term:  Payments are due 2 in the last two weeks of the Prior term or immediately for new students joining the term. 

  2. In one large amount paid for at the beginning of September of that year.  Payments are due two weeks prior to Term 1 starting in September of the year or immediately if starting mid-September.

  3. Payments made by week. Payments can be made weekly,  one week in advance at the beginning of each term. 

Payments may be made by bank transfer or by cheque to the teacher. Payments can be taken by the teacher by Card (through Sum UP card reader), or by cash at the lesson.  Late payments cannot be guaranteed further lessons once more than 2 weeks or 2 Lessons have passed based on which is sooner.
